What is Your "Why"? (Rob G)
May 18, 2023
"What is your 'Why'? Why have you joined our Facebook group and why have you been checking out our website? Why do you participate in our support calls, and why do you believe real estate will help you achieve your goals? If you are anything like me, you have explored various 'education' companies and listened to different 'gurus' passionately urging you to take action. However, their recommended actions often involve spending exorbitant amounts of money. While I don't want to be a hypocrite, it's true that we offer education and mentorship, and some of our programs can cost up to $25,000. Admittedly, that's not a small sum. But let me assure you, regardless of how much you spend or don't spend, I will be there to support you. It's simply in my nature. However, I have learned to strike a balance because I have my own family to support and personal goals to pursue, so I can't always work for free.
I've never aspired to be a front-of-the-room speaker; I've always been content to let others bask in the spotlight. But last year, things took an unexpected turn. In 2022, I underwent life-saving surgery, only to be confronted with a cancer diagnosis later in the year. My personal life and mental well-being were also in turmoil. It was a wake-up call, to say the least. I also began reflecting on the various gurus out there. While I understand that many of these people are in business and genuinely aim to help others, some of the education companies didn't sit right with me. Perhaps it wasn't the companies themselves but the individuals at the top. So, let me state this clearly: with Thrive Community, my intention is to help people, make a difference, connect with new individuals, surround myself with like-minded individuals who support one another, and yes, make money in the process. This is a business, and we have bills to pay, but I refuse to put people in financial distress under the pretense of helping them.
I've witnessed far too many people mortgage their lives, only to emerge without the success they were promised. I've heard gurus tell their followers that failure is inevitable if they don't follow every instruction and spend more and more money, all in the name of good fortune through beratement. My goal is to establish a community where we collaborate to help each other succeed. As a community, we are stronger, and our success is amplified not only on an individual level (whatever success means to you) but also as a collective.
My "Why" is my family. It's the driving force behind my decision to leave the corporate world and a six-figure salary. The demands of that lifestyle took a toll on me, requiring me to sacrifice valuable time with my loved ones. Recognizing the significance of time as a precious commodity, I made the choice to prioritize my family over financial gains. While money can be regained, time is irreplaceable once it slips away.
I urge you to seize this opportunity to redefine your lifestyle and align it with your "Why." Pursuing a path that allows you to prioritize your family may not be easy—it requires dedication, perseverance, and a willingness to overcome challenges. But I assure you, the rewards are immeasurable.
Remember, if achieving a fulfilling life were easy, everyone would be doing it. However, the journey toward living a life centered around your "Why" is uniquely rewarding. Embrace the challenges, stay committed, and you'll find that the path you've chosen is worth every effort.
I'm thrilled to announce that Thrive Community will be hosting our very first in-person live event, and I couldn't be more excited. This event holds immense significance for me, as it marks my return to participating in live events since November. Having conquered cancer and being on the path to recovery, spending a weekend with my community will undoubtedly recharge my batteries and uplift my spirits. Just as my coaches and mentors have shared their experience and knowledge with me over the years, taking the time to connect with you and exchange insights is mutually beneficial.
We have an exceptional lineup of speakers joining us on June 10 & 11 in Toronto. However, this weekend isn't solely focused on information and learning; it's also about building a strong community and fostering meaningful connections. We want to hear about your goals and aspirations, while also providing you with the opportunity to learn from others' experiences. On Friday evening, we will dedicate time to connect with the first 20 individuals who commit to attending the entire weekend, answering any questions you may have. Then, on Saturday evening, we will come together to enjoy ourselves, share contact information, and form lifelong connections.
I sincerely hope to see you there, and I encourage you to find me and say hello. Nothing would bring a bigger smile to my face than meeting you in person.
